Dr. Ira Williams

Malpractice in Madison: Breaking the Code of Silence, a Whistleblower’s Story

In 1970, Dr. Williams took the initiative to organize the nation’s first major surgical mini-residency. Surgeons from five different states participated in this program, where they gained expertise in advanced surgical procedures for correcting jaw deformities. As a result of its success, several oral surgery training programs quickly followed suit and established their own mini residencies for jaw deformity correction, catering to practicing surgeons.

Fast forward to 2003, the American College of Ob/Gyn expressed their regret at not having similar mini-residency programs for their own surgeons.
